History of Rayadurga fort

According to the history, Junga Nayaka, Rayadurgam Fort was built by a chieftain of Vijay nagaram kings. The Battle between Rama Rayalu the son in law of King Sri Krishna Deva Raya and Deccan Sultanates of Talikota was a bitter battle fought. Later Koneti Nayaka drove out the Muslim force. Venkatapathi Nayaka became the strength of the fort to a greater extent Later Tipu Sultan conquered the fort and it was annexed to the province of Gooty. On the fort, there is a temple built wonderfully which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha called as Lord Dashabhuja Ganapathi. The idol of a Dashabhuja Ganesha had been structured from a single 4m high monolithic stone. In the middle of the fort hill, there are four caves with few amazing carvings. There are other temples that are dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Venugopala, Ellamma, Prasanna Venkateswara, Jambukeswara, Veerabhadra and Kanyakaparameswari.
Kalyanadurga Fort, Akkamma Konda and Kota konda are some of the famous tourist destinations near the fort.
